On Thursday, September 20, Alia Bhatt took to social media to post a heartwarming post dedicated to father Mahesh Bhatt on his 70th Birthday. In the post, the ‘Raazi’ actress confirmed a sequel to the 1991 film ‘Sadak’ that starred Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt. The film was directed by Mahesh Bhatt.

Alia took to her Instagram and wrote, “Dear Daddy, on your 70th Birthday you have given me the greatest present I could ask and dream for. You are directing me! Sadak 2 is a dream come true. What I thought will never be possible you have made possible. Thank you, daddy, from the bottom of my heart, soul, and bones. This will be a journey of discovery. Of life, movies, feeling and most of all. Of a father and daughter. I love you, my not-so-old man! Happy Birthday 💕”



The sequel of the film is called ‘Sadak 2’ and the official announcement of the same was made by Vishesh Films on Thursday, September 20. The video about the official announcement of the film takes one back in time when the previous film ‘Sadak’ was released in 1991. The video makes one feel nostalgic as it has glimpses of Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt from the previous film. The makers posted the video of the announcement of ‘Sadak 2’ and captioned it as, “27 years ago, a love story won your hearts. A timeless tale. The next chapter begins..

‘Sadak 2’ has an ensemble cast of Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt, and Pooja Bhatt. The sequel of sorts will also be directed by Mahesh Bhatt. This would be the first time he would be collaborating with his daughter Alia Bhatt. Mahesh Bhatt will don the director’s cap after nearly two decades.


‘Sadak’ revolved around a young man Ravi (Sanjay Dutt), in love with a sex worker (Pooja Bhatt) and their fight against all odds to be together. ‘Sadak 2’ reportedly will focus on the present life of Sanjay Dutt’s character, Ravi. The film is slated to hit the screens on March 25, 2020.
