Parineeti Chopra cast in the Hindi remake of ‘The Girl on the Train; here’s why it ‘worked’ for her?
Parineeti Chopra has signed up for the lead role in the official Hindi remake of Paula Hawkins’ 2015 bestseller, The Girl on the Train. Anil D. Ambani led Reliance Entertainment will produce the film while Ribhu Dasgupta will direct it. Confirming the news to the daily, Reliance Entertainment said that they have acquired the rights of the film apart from the book.
“Not only is The Girl on the Train, one of the best psychological thrillers but also a heart-warming story of the female protagonist and her discovery of life. We’ve procured the rights of the book and the film, and will be adapting it from an Indian storytelling perspective. Amblin will be a partner in this film,” Shibasish Sarkar, Group CEO Reliance Entertainment, said, as per the daily.

Parineeti, meanwhile, said that she cannot wait to begin filming and said, “I want to do roles that audiences haven’t seen me in before and ones that require a lot of prep and homework, which is why The Girl on the Train really worked for me. The character is an alcoholic and a victim of abuse, and I haven’t explored anything like her on screen before.”
Moreover, Parineeti said that she loved the book and could also relate to the character in The Girl on the Train. “It’s exciting because I never thought I’d actually be doing a film around a book I’ve read and loved. I relate to the character because I’ve studied and worked in London, it’s my second home…I even know the tube maps inside out. I can’t wait to start shooting the film and relive those days and I hope people enjoy seeing me in a completely new avatar in this film,” she added.
The Girl on the Train is expected to begin filming around July and will wrap by September. Although makers haven’t finalized the release date, the film will hit screens in 2020.
