Shraddha Kapoor is currently on cloud nine. The actress’ latest release Stree has become a massive success and is being appreciated by the audience and the critics alike. But, looks like the actress doesn’t want to get stuck in the euphoria of success. She has already moved ahead on to her next project. After months of delay, the Amole Gupte biopic on Saina Nehwal finally went on floors today. Shraddha will be playing the role of the ace badminton player.
Talking about the film she told a leading newspaper, “I’m really excited about this film. Saina is the country’s sweetheart, a champion and a youth icon. It’s a challenging role for an actor as it requires an immense amount of transformation.”
The actress also opened up about the similarities between her reel life character and herself saying, “Well, I can relate to her journey. She has bounced back so many times and her journey has been a rollercoaster.” We are excited to watch Shraddha in a totally different avatar in this biopic. Aren’t you too?
On her Instagram story, Shraddha shared a photograph of herself along with filmmaker Amol Gupte and producer Bhushan Kumar holding the film’s clapboard. “Here we go! So excited to embark on this new journey. Need all your wishes,” Shraddha wrote.
The actress also shared a letter written by Gupte, which read: “Our darling daughter Shraddha, sai ko yaad karte hue tumhara naam Saina rakhte hain (let’s remember God and keep your name as Saina)… Let this journey be the most memorable for you… Dearest bachcha (baby) we love you.”
Shraddha has been reportedly preparing for the film, by training under Indian team head coach Pullela Gopichand. Very few details have been made available about the film otherwise.
Shraddha, in the meantime, is in a celebratory mood as her August release Stree fared exceptionally well at the box office. Her new film Batti Gul Meter Chalu, opposite Shahid Kapoor, hit screens on September 21.
