Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming project, the Hindi remake of Telugu film Arjun Reddy, has been making headlines for a while for speculation over its female lead. Newcomer Tara Sutaria, who is making her debut in Bollywood with Student Of the Year 2, was supposed to star opposite Shahid in Arjun Reddy but after she quit the project owing to date issues, Kiara Advani has apparently signed the role.
The actress confirmed to a leading Newspaper and said, “Arjun Reddy has always been one of my favorite films. There are so many shades to the heroine’s character. I’m very excited about this opportunity.” This layered character will require Kiara to display a range of emotions. Even her look for the role will see variations. It’s also her first movie with Shahid. As Sandeep puts it, “Kiara is the perfect choice to play the female lead in our film. She has the right combination of innocence and maturity, and that’s important for the character.”
Kiara will apparently star in Dharma Productions’ Good News, co-starring Diljit Dosanjh, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Akshay Kumar and considering the fact that the film has been delayed by a couple of months, the 26-year-old actress has some time to spare, during which she will shoot with Shahid for Arjun Reddy Remake.
Tara is currently filming Student Of the Year 2, co-starring Tiger Shroff and Ananya Panday, and had to opt of out of Arjun Reddy after the release date of her debut project was postponed from November 2018 to May 2019. The shooting schedule for both films clashed as a result of which Tara quit Shahid’s film.
Kiara made her debut in Bollywood with Fugly in 2014 and subsequently starred in the films M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Machine and Lust Stories.
Meanwhile, Shahid’s new film Batti Gul Meter Chalu released on September 21 and has received a decent response at the box office so far.
Arjun Reddy Remake is Directed by Sandeep Vanga and Produced by Ashwin Varde and Murad Khetani. The Filming Begins in October.
